Services
As an End-of-Life Doula, I offer holistic support for your end-of-life journey. This includes emotional support, practical guidance, and facilitating communication with loved ones and healthcare providers. My services encompass advance care planning, ensuring your wishes are documented and respected. I can also guide you through life review, preserving memories and values, and assist with legacy projects like memoirs or memorial services. While I focus on emotional support and communication, I can connect you with resources for medical and personal care needs. Here are some key ways I can assist you:
Emotional Support:
A compassionate and listening ear, offering a safe space to express your fears, hopes, and anxieties.
Gentle guidance in exploring and processing complex emotions.
Support in fostering open communication between loved ones.
Meaningful Connections & Comfort:
Companionship during in-home visits or virtual consultations, providing a comforting presence and fostering human connection in the time planning ahead and at the end.
Facilitation of heartfelt goodbyes and closure rituals, allowing loved ones to express their love and say their final farewells.
Short-term respite care opportunities and resources for family caregivers, offering them time for self-care and emotional renewal so they can continue providing support.
Empowering Planning & Preparation:
Assistance in completing advance directives, ensuring your healthcare wishes are known & respected.
Guidance on navigating healthcare decisions and navigating the complexities of the medical system.
Help in creating a meaningful legacy project, such as a memory box or a personal letter to loved ones.
Support in funeral planning or facilitating conversations about end-of-life wishes, allowing you to take control and express your individuality.
Tailored Support for Your Unique Needs Every end-of-life journey is unique. I take the time to understand your individual circumstances, values, and wishes. Together, we can create a personalized plan that empowers and advocates for you to make informed decisions and experience a dignified and peaceful end-of-life experience. Schedule a complimentary 30-minute consultation (phone or Zoom) to discuss your needs.
Advance Care Planning Documents your wishes for medical care at the end of life, ensuring your voice is heard and your loved ones are informed. This reduces stress on families during a difficult time and empowers you to make your own choices. This service does not include any legal advice. For legal matters, I can recommend qualified professionals to handle the tasks beyond my scope of care and business. Bereavement/Grief Support for Families and Loved Ones Provides emotional and practical guidance to those grieving a loss. This helps families navigate the complex emotions of grief and provides tools for coping and healing.
Companionship/Vigil Offers emotional and physical presence at the bedside during the end-of-life journey or after death, available with 24 hours (continuous support in one 24 hour period, or broken up into shifts) offered to clients as the active dying process begins. This provides comfort and security to the dying person and allows loved ones & caregivers time for rest and self-care.
Companion Animal/Pet End-of-Life Support Helps navigate the difficult decisions and emotions surrounding a pet's illness at the end of life or passing. This ensures a peaceful and dignified end-of-life experience for your beloved pet and supports you through the grieving process.
Dementia Education/Support Equips you with knowledge and tools to care for someone with dementia. This empowers you to provide compassionate care while understanding the challenges of the disease.
Green Burial and Traditional Disposition Education Informs you about eco-friendly burial options that minimize environmental impact. This allows you to make informed choices about your final wishes while considering the environment. Also can assist and guide you on considering or planning for other traditionally known options such as casket burial or cremation.
Identifying and Connecting to Community Resources Helps find local support groups, financial assistance programs, or other services you may need. This connects you with valuable resources to ease burdens and provide additional support.
Life Review & Legacy Projects This service facilitates reflecting on life experiences (life review) and translating those reflections into lasting keepsakes for loved ones. This fosters a sense of closure and allows families to cherish the departed's memory through tangible items. Legacy projects can encompass creating personalized keepsakes that capture the essence of the individual's life such as letters, scrapbooks, photographs, videos, poems, memoirs and more.
Light Housekeeping/Short Term Respite Provides temporary relief from household chores, allowing you to focus on emotional needs. This reduces stress and allows caregivers time to recharge and prioritize their own well-being.
Solo Ager Support Offers support to older adults who are aging alone, without a spouse, children, or strong support system (whether that be due to circumstance or distance) to provide care and support. As solo agers do not have a built-in support system, hiring an end-of-life doula can be particularly important to assist with getting affairs in order, or simply for companionship as they navigate the complexities of death and dying at the end of life.
