National Healthcare Decisions Day: Taking Control of Your Future Care

Have you heard of National Healthcare Decisions Day? Observed annually on April 16th, the day after the traditional Tax Day, it's a chance for everyone to focus on advance care planning. This means thinking about your wishes for medical treatment in the future, especially if you're ever unable to speak for yourself.

Why is this Day After Tax Day?
The lighthearted answer? It plays on the famous Benjamin Franklin quote: "... in this world nothing is certain except death and taxes." By taking care of your taxes on the 15th, the 16th becomes a natural prompt to consider another certainty: your healthcare wishes.
But the real reason is to leverage a day that's already on many people's calendars. National Healthcare Decisions Day aims to use that awareness to nudge everyone towards thinking about their future healthcare.
